Two negatives, clearly outweighed by some very big positives:
1) When my first "savings bond" was maturing, I was mailed an alert about three weeks beforehand, with information about reinvestment options. The second time it was a shorter notice -- about a week or 10 days, if I remember correctly. This time (the third or fourth) I received no mailed or emailed notification at all, and it was left completely up to me to contact SI.
2) It's now been (what?) three years or so that the promised "SI Online" capability has been said to be imminent, with a long list of missed "deadlines." This is obviously a *very* low priority for the bank. Meanwhile, routine (i.e., unlinked to a specific request) mail reporting of balance and interest crediting information is spotty, seemingly not tied to either the calendar year or the UK tax year.
On the positive side,
3) Phone and email service is usually friendly, effective, and efficient.
4) Outweighing everything else, I'm just so grateful that SI has chosen to persevere with serving US-resident account holders post FATCA, unlike the great majority of sterling area financial institutions. It's very good that law-abiding, full tax-paying customers are not rejected out of hand, just because they are subject to US tax jurisdiction.

Always good to be able to talk to a person who can access the information immediately with no return phone calls needed and no pressing of numbers on the telephone.

A little cheated that a short while later my partner was quoted 1.5% while I got 1.4% both within 1 month.

I would have given 3.5 stars if it was an option. To be honest, I was put through quite a lot of stress towards the end of the exchange. I received a very abrupt e-mail to say you weren't lending on the property after I had already been served notice to exchange. I understand you have to inform me of the situation but I personally think the way it was done leaves your clients anxious. It ended up getting resolved so I'm not sure we should have been informed until you were sure nothing could be done, or perhaps a call or a slightly friendlier approach should be used in the future.

There were mortgage facilities offering more favourable rates from various lenders however as existing clients, who have always valued the customer service provided, Skipton were always our preferred lenders.
