There is one thing I do NOT LIKE. Every time one changes an account with Skipton it means a new account number. This is bureaucratic , can be confusing. Provision should be made to KEEP the same acct no on the system . If banks can do it why can't Skipton ?!

Communication with customers is limited. Contact should be made with customer before a deposit matures and the customer should be offered or made aware of current alternative deposits. The maturing deposit should not automatically be rolled over for the same duration as the original one.

When I telephoned Skipton to inquire about their savings bonds the telephone was answered within moments, the lady was helpful and informative. After completing security procedures I was able carry out my transaction over the telephone, the whole thing was so easy, within minutes I had transferred funds into a new savings bond. The following day I received a call from Skipton to confirm the new savings bond. I then received confirmation in the post a short time afterwards. In my opinion the whole experience couldn't have been better. Well done Skipton it is a pleasure to deal with you.

Service was efficient and quick. A couple of slightly negative points. I had to ask what documentation I would receive confirming my deposit was opened. I was told a bond certificate would be issued. This information wasn't very evident from their website. Also, almost 3 weeks later I am still awaiting the bond certificate.
The product I chose was a 3 year fix at 1.99%. i didn't know at the time but during my application a new product became available at 2%. it would have been nice if Skipton had alerted me to this slightly higher interest bearing product.

The member of staff who dealt with my call was very professional and most helpful. My money was placed on a fixed term deposit with one phone call.

One year fixed term deposit paying 1.6% seems to be about the best product for CI investors at the moment.

The staff were most helpful and helped us through the onerous process required to open new accounts in the current regime of anti money laundering, to which the honest consumer now has to expect.
I can only wish that some of SI’s competitors could learn how to do this.

It is very pleasing to ring up and speak to a member of staff who is human, who is helpful and able to simply and efficiently deal with queries and transactions ...………….. …...my experience elsewhere has been the opposite - remote "call centres" without clearance to transact simple requests.

Good customer service overall although sadly Skipton completely failed to make it clear to Monthly 200 Investors that they could upgrade to the new higher interest rate. I am sure many elderly investors and thioe less au fait with finance could get left in an unfavourable position through this. Normally I would give Skipton 5 stars but not on this occasion. Also it would be a good idea to have a letterbox for people who wish to drop correspondence in to the office.
