My experience with Skipton was fine but the solicitor you appointed (Conveyancing Direct) was not professional. They failed to do title search and made me dig out old files to look up the title no. for them - this is my first time having worked with various other conveyancers. Also their turnaround was always VERY slow. Procedures were cumbersome and asked for A LOT of info which I have already provided to Skipton on day one in the application form.
Product Review:
Skipton quoted me an interest rate before BoE dropped rates and during the course of the application rates were dropped. Although I asked through my broker for a reduction in interest rate given the BoE rate adjustment, I do not think Skipton had entertained. The offered package was not as good as other lenders would have provided to me but I did not have the time to start all over again because the application and conveyancing process was cumbersome.

I have had your comments investigated and Conveyancing Direct confirmed that your prior bank would not provide a redemption statement based on the address provided in your application, hence the request for clarification of title number. In the circumstances there was no alternative but to refer back to you.

Telephone calls were dealt with politely and by people who were very efficient. Deposits are acknowledged by post promptly and my only reservation is that my account is not accessible online. I understand that this service will be available later in the year and will be welcome.

Helpful, generally. But Skipton doesn't have online available yet, nor provision for primary and contingent beneficiaries, which would be helpful.
Very nice staff on the phone and via email. Easy to open accounts.

Skipton is currently replacing our banking system to facilitate the addition of secure online access for customers. We are expecting to roll this out from the end of the year.
