I did a remortgage with Skipton. They were great and fast, however, the solicitor they were using were terrible and took forever.

Thank you for your feedback, which I have had investigated.
Conveyancing Direct confirm that the initial request for information from the counterparty solicitor took two months to be received despite being chased on four separate occasions. Further information took three weeks to be received, despite weekly chasing. Looking at the time scales it would appear that Conveyancing Direct turned around their activities very promptly, but the process was frustrated by the above mentioned delays.

Disappointed that my first visit on 17 Feb didn't produce results & I had to follow up with phone call 23 Feb & visit 24 Feb to get things moving.
Finally visit no.3 on 27 Feb which I now hope will produce the desired Guardian a/c. Appears that no banking procedures exist or else they were not reviewed or extensive enough to cope with the movement from a sole a/c to deceased to beneficiary to guardianship.

I can assure you that processes do exist for such situations and given the sensitivity of Guardian/deceased accounts require additional due diligence to be followed. Short cutting such procedures would not be in the interest of the parties involved.

Skipton service is good in terms of courtesy and security. However, from my experience, Skipton savings products have become very limited. In line with many other banks and financial institutions, money is locked away for very little return. As a retiree dependent upon savings interest for my living expenses, institutions do not offer any real benefit any more, no matter how long money is invested. Accounts are only offered in Sterling despite the unpredictable climate ahead. Issues i have raised in emails in the last year have not always been addressed. However, in terms of staff and assistance Skipton rates very highly in my estimation.

I agree our products are currently relatively limited in return. This reflects the market as a whole and Skipton International generally offers interest rates at the higher end of the market, as published by Moneyfacts, where our products receive "Competitive" or "Excellent" ratings. Being a Sterling based mortgage lender limits our requirement for deposits to Sterling only and hence we do not have plans for currency products in the foreseeable future.

By far the most accessible lender on the Jersey market. Easily the best range of products for first time buyers. Although we went through Cherry Godfrey and didn't have direct contact with Skipton, their responses were quick and clear. Absolutely no complaints!

Seemingly the only place left that offers 100% mortgages, without which we wouldn't have been able to purchase a property.
