The mortgage approval is quite fast and smooth. I have got mortgage offer in just a month. However, the nominated solicitor required 3 months to handle the rest of conveyancing process. It would be better if they can set a handling timeline for their nominated solicitor.

From first enquiry to mortgage offer to funds transferred, Skipton have always been responsive and very helpful. Skipton are also very efficient and quick compared to other lenders.

Very good with communication and has been a sound savings institute to us for many years. However, product interest rates have slipped and not as competitive in the market place. I have renewed for a further 2 years but will look for more competitive savings rate at future renewals. I don't like my loyalty being leveraged.

I have had a rather brief engagement with a person who is mortgage administrator querying and asking some questions about the initial payments on my mortgage which has recently been activated.
This exchange was via email.
The response time was overnight (I live offshore to the UK), answer was succint and to the point and pleasant.
I have no complaints, in fact I was pleasantly surprised with the resolution.

Very accommodating and offer excellent service . Excellent Service.it took a little longer but understandable with the Covid situation that is affecting many. Skipton was quick to reply in all our questions and approval was fast. I would recommend using Skipton to my family and friends.

The service was very good, although I was extremely upset to be told that they were cutting our mortgage by £6,000 because my husband only gets paid 10 days holiday. This really put us in a tricky situation and was rather disappointing to say the least - especially as we had been confirmed the full amount in the first instance.

Everyone I have dealt with at Skipton has been superb, particularly Lorraine Mclean. The whole process has been incredibly smooth and communication has been excellent: efficient, swift and supportive. I am very happy to have chosen this mortgage provider.

Very good products but the international buy to let rates are kept too high above Bank of England rates. It's unfair to make a British national pay so much.

The overall offer for the mortgage is reasonable. However, if there is an offer with a shorter fix period, aka, 1 year, with the opportunity to re-finance, it will be even better, as the interest rate fluctuation has been more volatile these years, 5 years fix is too long a period to hold on to a certain interest rate level.

I find the banking app a pain to use. Skipton have used this as an excuse not to send statements. I need interest paid to complete my tax return. The staff do respond quickly to questions but it still seems a painful process. I would suggest that an annual statement of accounts held and interest credited is needed for all Guernsey resident clients. It is poor customer service to insist that clients get such basic information through an app which is clumsy and difficult to use

The mortgage finance was arranged with an offer in place quickly to enable us to engage with the vendor and obtain acceptance of our offer, including clear advice as to the conditions of finance and a helpful work through of the application pack, which we were grateful for. However, the solicitor Skipton used caused significant delays by asking questions during the transaction that were irrelevant, had already been addressed, or could have been addressed earlier. The transaction took 6 months to complete despite there not being any issue of major concern, simply due to poor communication from the lendor's solicitor. This has deterred us from using Skipton for our next transaction.
Product Review:
Ease of arranging finance, but high fees and a relatively high rate. Will most likely shop around a little more for better value (particularly due to time taken to complete transaction due to delays caused by lender's solicitor that negated any time saving at the front end).

This investigation confirmed that your solicitor responded with initial, incomplete, pre-exchange papers over two months after Conveyancing Direct's welcome pack and request was sent. A fortnight later your solicitor documentation's was satisfactorily completed and the conveyance completed a little over a week after that, 3 months after Skipton made you a mortgage offer. Conveyancing Direct did not cause delay and operated effectively. I am sorry that your view of Skipton's (and Conveyancing Direct's) service has been marred by events outside of our control.
