Good Service - small error on first transfer date (should have been 10th but was billed on 1st.

It has been a very long process. The feedback is not timely and there is no enough visibility on the progress. The fact that I didn't use their conveyancer has created so much delay in closing but indeed I have to pay for the conveyancing fee of GBP3,000 even though I am not using their conveyancer. It doesn't really get their attention to support the process in a timely manner even though I have paid for their service.

Skipton were great to deal with, very responsive & informative. Their solicitors, Walker Laird, were somewhat frustrating to deal with. We had several issues with them including them re-requesting information/documents they were already provided, incorrect details on documents provided by them, and they waited until the last minute to raise issues with the documents and asked for an extension on completion which we agreed to, they then asked for another extension which we declined.

The product does not provide access to an online platform where I can log on and check my mortgage balance.

Excellent service. Nathan mortgage advisor talked us through the process the whole way. Always available and nothing to much trouble. Insured all paperwork was ready for underwriter and was right first time as we were on a tight deadline. Excellent service and very swift turn around. Also Kerry in the underwriting team also excellent service,

Skipton's valuer undervalued the property and I had to find an extra 80,000GBP at the last minute. Luckily I was able to get the money, otherwise I would have lost the property!!

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear the independent valuer considered the property value lower than you had hoped. Skipton uses a panel of valuers that is managed by a third party (Connells Estate Agents in our case) to provide UK wide coverage. All of these valuers are qualified members of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. When Skipton instructs Connells to arrange a valuation one of these valuers is selected at random to visit the property and return their assessment of condition and value. Skipton does not have any direct relationship with any individual valuer and relies upon their advice. I would note that other properties in the development were also valued lower by other valuers. Skipton went over and above to process my application in record time. I found the balance of their thorough, professional review of both the application and supporting documentation, together with their empathy to understand that it is not always possible to deliver exactly what is defined was refreshing. They were responsive, understanding and overall provided a great experience.
Product Review:
The product is what I was looking for: a balance of fixed monthly payments plus the option (later) to make early repayments at no additional charge. The terms and conditions were easy to understand and felt transparent.

Shane Konken did a very good job resolving my problem with the Approve app. I must however say that i am not a fan of Skipton using a Google Play app for their two stage verification process. I personally think the App has some probelms that need serious attention..
